Hovelsrudhagen grow vegetables, fruits, berries and raise chickens organically. We are passionate about organic farming and want to hire a gardener to help us in summer 2019. We are located at Helgøya in lake Mjøsa in Norway. Hovelsrud is a historic farm; our gardens are restored to its original from 1840. We grow vegetables, red and black currants, apples, pears and plums. We are Norways largest producer of organic chickens and our chicken receive the best care. Our welfare chickens have received a certificate by the Norwegian Society for Protection of Animals («Dyrevernalliansen»). Our produce and chickens end at the best restaurants. In the summer we have lot of people helping out at the farm and we want a gardener to help us.

Essential Job Functions:

Commit to working through the season
Will help perform seeding, planting, weeding, pruning, irrigating and harvesting
Will help feeding and raising organic chickens
Will assist in the seasonal cleanup of crops and vegetation
Demonstrate great work ethic and a positive attitude
Cooperate and coordinate with other employees

Required Qualifications:

Must have a valid driver’s license
Have a keen interest in organic farming
Organic farming education
Good communication skills; English language skills required; Norwegian language optional
Willingness to take initiative and ability to ask for help and lead other people
